APPLICATION AND DESCRIPTION

RG11 armoured coaxial cable provides a 75 ohm signal path for indoor marine distribution systems where cable attenuation and route space both influence selection. Its 14 AWG solid bare copper conductor is surrounded by foam PE, foil and tinned copper braid screening. LSZH bedding separates the screened core from the tinned copper braid armour, and an LSZH polyolefin sheath encloses the assembly. The nominal overall diameter is 15.0 mm.

KEY FEATURES

  • 1.6 mm nominal solid copper centre conductor.

  • 75±5 ohm impedance, with attenuation values listed from 100 to 1000 MHz.

  • Separate screening and armour layers for coordinated connector and cable-entry design.

SELECTION NOTES

Compare the loss at the required frequency with the total route budget, including splitters and connections. Plan sufficient support and bend space for the 15.0 mm cable diameter and the listed 15 times overall-diameter minimum radius. Select connectors specifically compatible with the centre conductor, dielectric and armoured jacket construction.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why consider RG11 for a distribution route?

Its listed attenuation can be assessed against the route's signal-loss allowance. Compare the actual frequency-specific data and available installation space.

What is the centre conductor size?

The construction specifies 14 AWG solid bare copper, with a nominal diameter of 1.6 mm.

What loss is listed at 1000 MHz?

The nominal attenuation is 14.8 dB per 100 m at 1000 MHz for this construction.

Is the shielding also the armour?

Foil and tinned copper braid provide the screens. A separate tinned copper braid outside the bedding forms the armour.

Can it be selected for an exposed marine route without further checks?

Specify weather, water and chemical exposure along with the project requirements so the cable and terminations can be assessed for that route.
